Since its beginning in early 2016, the NetEase sponsored GOLD Championship Series quickly claimed a spot amongst the biggest tournaments worldwide. The good performances of Foggy and Rudan in December now opened four slots for western players for the Grand Finale in July in Shanghai with $17,000 on the line!

GCS has been a highlight of the Warcraft year for three episodes now. Qualifications are easy to access and follow, it uses a contemporary tournament system and produced insane and never to be forgotten games every time our warriors step into the ring in Shanghai.

So far, it was very hard for European and American players to qualify for the event, since the qualifier was separated into Chinese and International parts and resulting in Koreans having an unfair ping advantage over the likes of Foggy, Rudan, Hawk etc.

This will change in 2017!

China and Korea share 12 slots for the Grand Final now, meaning that four "foreigners" will represent Europe and the Americas later this year. Two qualifiers will make sure, that our best players will take the golden ticket, as the top two of each qualifier make it to Shanghai to compete with the world elite.

This time - we will be sending 4 of our best players to the mainland of Warcraft 3 competing against the world elite. Players from Europe and the Americas will be fighting for a slot in the two qualifiers, that will happen later this year. Korea and China will have their own qualifiers, which will grant them 12 slots. The qualifiers for the Gold Championship Series will be packed with great players and you are invited along to witness it.

I feel pity when I first time heard the news that happy won't come to the first qualifier. Actually,as far as I know, many Chinese viewers are looking forward to watching his game. They want to watch an awesome undead wining the game. However, I kind of understand him. I saw his interview last time and I know probably he wants to be a pure streamer. I admire him also, he can keep his "promise" mentioned in the interview because few people can do this when they facing the honor, prize money and sense of victory. The reason I left comment today because I am still waiting for if he could change his mind . Many viewers expected he can play great games to us.I know probably he doesn't care too much about these type of viewers(As far as I know from his interview). Anyway, show my respect to happy and say good luck to him. Another comment for rudan. I like his game, especially NE mirror. Wish he could be qualified and go to shanghai again.

Ridiculous how American low skillers get a slot to represent just because they are Americans. Longwalk is not even semipro and doesn't belong at the direct spots. Everyone knows he would never make it trough the open qualifier.

Comment #5 Actually Longwalk is very good and skilled player.Just he has real life where he make a lot of money (IT I suppose).I saw his game on Turtle last year vs th000.The real th000 man.. he was close.I admire slots for american.Who knows, maybe there will be B2W in America too
