The precious and long awaited second season of Gold Championship Series has been announced. This time with European participation! UPDATE! The groups are released..

The organizers of Golden Championship Series have released the groups for Season 2:

Group A Group BGroup CGroup D
Romantic Fly100% TH000 120
Zhou_Xixi Yumiko  Infi Lyn
Moon WFZ Xun Foggy
Safe* Vila Alice Lucifer
16-17. May18-19. May20-21. May22-23. May

* According to sources, Bluedevil is replaced by Safe due to personal reasons

In Group A,  Romantic is facing three Night Elf players, where Moon,  Zhou_Xixi and  Safe also have to polish their mirror match-up.
The current WCA champion   Fly100% will meet Yumiko, WFZ and Vila.
The current defending Golden champion  Infi will be meeting his best friend TH000,  Xun and Alice in Group C.
Our European hope Foggy is placed into Group D, where he is facing hard competition with two WCA qualifier finalists. The best Undead in the world 120, the returning Orc god Lyn and the first Undead GERA Cup winner of all time Lucifer stand in his way to the quarterfinals.

Get your popcorn ready for some high-quality Warcraft 3.

Which two players do you think will advance from their groups?

After the immense success of the last edition of Gold Championship Series, NetEase and Blizzard proudly present the Gold Championship Series Season 2. The city of Shanghai will be the destination for the competing players and a whole month of Warcraft 3 action with an astounding price pool of $14,050.

The tournament is scheduled from May 16 to June 3 and the 16 players are divided into four groups, with the top two of each group advancing. The group stage will be played in best of three. The advancing players from each group will be playing double-elimination finals in a best of five.

The group stages will start May 16 to May 23 with two days spent for each group and the playoffs starts later on May 30 to June 2nd.

How did the 16 players qualify?

The twelve highest ranked solo players on the Chinese Warcraft 3 client NetEase were automatically invited to the group stage. No surprise the Chinese players were dominating the top slots, but as a amazingly for the Western community,   Foggy managed to obtain one spot in the grid and will travel to China to compete in the tournament.

The last four spots were given to the winning players in the Gold Championship Qualifier, where we saw further Europeans competing. We saw the WCA runner-up   Marc 'yAwS' Foerster fighting to secure a spot. He managed to reach the semi-final, where Alice unfortunately set an end to the human player's hopes. Alice managed to win his group and secured a spot in Shanghai together with  Lucifer,   Vila and   Bluedevil.

Also on board,  June 'Lyn' Park, who announced his return to competitive Warcraft 3 in the WCA APAC Qualifier. It will be interesting to witness, how he stands his ground against the Chinese elite.

it is said many korean player , lawliet, focus, sok ,check faking boost their score , I don't know how to say properly, but they are eliminated during the season mode because of that. I don't really what is official operational definitions for this type of faking. they don't have a clear rule saying how to define this type of behavior. Just say it is the official result after their investigating. I highly doubt whether Lyn can attend this because he has WCA APAC finals is on May 19. seems he has to in korean on May 19? what is his choice? I think season2 will be not that great compared to the season 1.

Supposedly some Korean players cheated by leaving games when facing each other (something like that). That is why they were not invited. I don't know how much truth is in that, but it sounds rather sad :(

Great accomplishment by foggy but sad to hear there is no lawliet, maybe he is eliminated because Chinese humans are afraid of him.

Also nice to see lyn back and competing, there was a moment where he held 1st and 2nd rank of that netease ladder with his two accs. Just read that foggy was ranked 13th but the 12th ranked agatha canceled the tour so foggy got that 12th place, anyways grats to him.
