I still don't know how to think about this yet. Of course i am glad that someone puts money on wc3 again, but on the other hand we already have the gera cup, green cup, blue cup, zodiac cup and the w3arena tournaments. So why create another random 1on1 tournament that probably won't last for a second season. I just feel we are lacking in consistency, like what will it look like in 6 months or a year? Will we still have all these cups and tournaments or are these just dayflies. I have seen so many tournaments rise and vanish in the blink of an eye.

I agree with Jehu, I would prefer seeing more "amateur" cup without prize pools to give everyone a chance to train and improve. All those cups are good but only for few people. Shouldn't we use all this money from the prizepool to improve the website/server? Bring a chinese host server for example? Do a partnership with qq.tx (or smthg, I mean the chinese server)? w3arena have achieved a lot already but the road is still long and I am not sure lack of consistency will help us to keep on the good track.

You ask for cups and a tournament scene for wc3 then when you get it , you still whine. Perhaps with support and donations wc3 will stay alive much longer but putting down the efforts of those who are trying when you ain't doing nothing brings no benefit to anyone.. This league is dope. Exactly what was missing from the EU scene . Good stuff / Harosh

On one hand, I do understand your objection, but on the other hand most of the cups are free for all players (in particular the two W3Arena tournaments each week). I believe that we not only need a broad community of average players, but also a small circle of progamers, to keep the game alive. And since this pool of players is far smaller than five years ago, they are facing the same opponents every day. Therefore, I see new cups and leagues with price pools as a chance to maintain motivation and popularity. Of course, we need to take care that all brackets remain competitive and interesting, but at the moment I don?t see this threat with having two pro tournaments a week.

No I didn't mean it like that. Sorry for misunderstanding. I just wondered if all the prize pool shouldn't be used to invest in the platform / server to broaden the community even more? Meshy don't get all moppy like that of course it's sick! Just need to look further than our nose :)

Freaking awesome! Also now there is some real cash on the line! They will probably train for that, then tuesdays cups and random cups could be for the lesser experienced players.. I don't think people will use 3/4 hours winning nothing but honour in tuesdays tournaments and a mere 25? in green cup and sunday cup. With that being said I would also like to see a stable solo player league kind of thing like the german EPS. :) But very nice work guys i am looking forward to follow this tournament!

@CdN_Topas: A general money pool like this is not existent. Cups and leagues are being sponsored independently. Nonetheless, there is a lot of effort put into the continuous development of the platform and to broaden the community. We are on a good way.

I agree with the general consensus that there are too many tournaments. It would be much more ordered if we had say, 3 tournaments every week, on their own set days at their own sets times. Brand them each and make them independent from each other. I also agree with cdn_topas. With all these tournaments I almost think it would be better to use those resources towards growing w3arena, perhaps more hostbots for example or someone to help develop some of features for w3a, as 1 person doing all the development would be time consuming.

This is the tournament to rule them all! Also making our European players top notch ready for the WCA :) The more I think about the more exciting this tournament is! Also a much better format, makes it easier to stream (streamers don't have to wait for games), Pro players don't have to play all of us newbs guaranteeing nice matches to cast, in addition this makes it possibly for players to prepare them self for the upcoming match up and maps, probably making the games even more exciting!

YOu could have written it out earlier... I mean if i had known about it I would already be in top20. I still will give it a try, but having only 20 days to catch up is kind of a bad situation. Maybe if others have the same problem you could set the delay to a later date.

better idea is to get asian hostbot, and all those money from all those 3 cups, put in 1 cup every week, and call some chines players to play here, bigger prizepool will bring more good player from china , and maybe some of them will start playing on w3arena and they will bring alot of chines average players to come and play on w3arena. we will probably have more than 500 players online sometimes even more, if you bring active chines and korean progamers here.. and maybe some europe inactive players will start playing again on w3a. thats my opinion.

I like your opinion, better to clash up a cup togehter so people who get 1st,2nd,3rd can get a taste of glory, cause now its mostly for those who get 1st place who get, would'nt feel so time-breaking spending many hours doing 2nd or 3rd place in a tournament, cause also that is a great achievement and should also be rewarded :)

The main question is: how is it financed? Is there a way of an armortization of the finacial efforts through ad-earnings of streams, sponsors, etc.?
